Check the warranty yourself

You do not have to take our word for it. Apple lets anyone look up any device, and it takes about a minute. Do it in the shop before you pay if you like — we would rather you did.

  1. 1

Get the serial number or IMEI

On the phone, open Settings, tap General, then About. The Serial Number and IMEI are in that list — press and hold either one to copy it.

Faster still: dial *#06# on the keypad and the IMEI appears straight away.

It is also printed on the barcode label of the original box, so you can check a sealed unit without opening it.

  2. 2

Enter it on Apple’s own checker

Go to checkcoverage.apple.com and type the serial in. This is Apple’s site, not ours.

  3. 3

    Read what it tells you

Apple confirms the model it holds against that serial and whether repair and support coverage is active. If the model shown is not the model you are buying, walk away — from us or from anyone.

One thing that surprises people: on a brand-new sealed device, Apple often reports that the purchase date has not been validated yet. That is normal and it is not a red flag — the clock starts when the device is activated or when proof of purchase is supplied. Your iTey Store receipt is that proof, so keep it.

Every Apple device we sell is brand new, sealed and never activated, sourced through licensed distributors, and carries the manufacturer warranty. If a check ever comes back wrong on something you bought from us, bring it back.

Buying iPhone 17 Pro Max 256GB in Kenya

The 256GB iPhone 17 Pro Max is the most-asked-about iPhone configuration we ship in Kenya — and the one buyers most often get wrong by a single storage tier. These are the conversations specific to this exact model and capacity.

Is 256GB enough for the Pro Max specifically

For most buyers, yes — but the Pro Max is the iPhone people actually shoot video on. ProRes 4K eats about 6GB per minute of footage. If you shoot video weekly, the 512GB version is the spec that genuinely matches the camera you are paying for. The KSh 30,000 jump to 512GB is roughly two months of complaining about "Storage Almost Full" notifications avoided. We tell most photographers and content creators to skip 256GB on Pro Max specifically.

Pro Max vs iPhone 17 Air — the weight question matters more than buyers expect

Pro Max is the heaviest iPhone Apple ships — about 230 grams. The iPhone 17 Air is roughly 60 grams lighter and the difference is genuinely noticeable in your pocket and your hand after a long day. Pro Max earns its weight only if you actively use the longer-zoom camera and the largest screen. If you mainly want the Pro chip and titanium, Air gives you that lighter. We have customers come back after a month asking us to swap Pro Max for Air because the weight wears on them.

Colour — what we have learned from a year of Pro Max sales

Natural Titanium and Black Titanium are the colours that age best in Kenyan hands — dust, sweat, and the constant in-and-out of pockets are kinder to those finishes. The brighter colours (Desert Titanium, Blue Titanium) show micro-scratches faster, especially without a case. If you go caseless and want the phone to still look new in two years, pick a darker titanium.

Camera control button — the Pro Max-specific superpower

The camera control button on the Pro Max is the one Pro feature that justifies the price for content creators. It is a hardware shutter with pressure sensitivity for zoom and focus — meaningfully faster than tapping the screen. If you shoot for Instagram, TikTok or YouTube, you will use this every day. If you take photos casually, it is a curiosity.

When the Pro Max 1TB makes sense

We sell very few 1TB Pro Max units, and the buyers who get it right are clear: professional videographers shooting ProRes on the iPhone as a B-camera, or filmmakers using the Pro Max as a primary camera for short-form work. For everyone else, 1TB is more storage than you will ever fill before the phone is two years old. 512GB is the sane upper ceiling for most buyers.

When 256GB is actually the right call (don't over-buy)

256GB is enough if you (a) back up photos and videos to iCloud or Google Photos and let the phone offload originals, (b) do not shoot 4K video regularly, or (c) plan to upgrade phones every two years anyway. Don't let our "512 is the safer spec" advice push you into spending money you do not need to spend.
